EMEL announces that it has proceeded with the installation of approved automatic fire extinguishing systems in the engine area of buses that did not have such systems, as they were registered before 01/09/2021 when the European Regulation came into effect. As a result, the small number of routes that were not operated last week will be restored to normalcy starting from Monday morning. Consequently, as of Monday morning, all EMEL school routes, which are more than 160, will be conducted normally, without any changes, as well as the regular operation of public passenger transportation services in the city and province of Limassol will continue without interruption.

EMEL announces that, following the letter from the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Works, received on the afternoon of December 3, 2023, regarding the immediate cessation of service on regular and student routes by buses with more than 22 passenger seats lacking an automatic fire suppression system in the engine compartment, in compliance with the ministerial decision and pending clarifications, the transportation of students on a small number of school routes will be affected starting tomorrow, Monday. It is clarified that all EMEL buses used on regular urban and regional routes falling under the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Works’ announcement (more than 22 passenger seats) are equipped with modern and certified European standard automatic fire

Αccording to information received from the competent authorities, starting from Monday, 27/11/2023, the direction from Pentadromos lights towards Leontiou Station will become one-way. Therefore, the affected routes 3, 11, 13, starting from Leontiou Station, will pass through Makarios Avenue, bypassing Gladstonos Street, while Route 80 will pass through Agias Fylaxeos.

EMEL would like to inform the traveling public that as of Monday, 27/11/2023, there will be a change in the routes of lines 16 and 27. Specifically, the routes starting from Kourio and Erimi, respectively, at the Fairways lights, will turn right towards the Leontiou Station. As for the routes of 16 and 27 starting from the Leontiou Station, the direction will remain as it is. For passengers who wish to continue on Makarios Avenue, it is recommended to transfer at the stop opposite the Fire Department on route 21.”
