David Simpson’s annual charity run in aid of the Agia Skepi Therapeutic Community. Under the auspices of the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Andreas Christou.
Over the past 5 years Osteopath and National Triathlon Champion David Simpson has been doing something extreme, every year on his birthday, to raise funds for charity.
This year his aim is to run 145km in a day (Limassol, Troodos, Episkopi, Limassol) in aid of AGIA SKEPI Therapeutic Community which offers help to long term substance users and their families (www.agiaskepi.com). The run climb and descend over 9000meters will take place on 8th December on trails and mountain paths and will take about 20 hours and require +10000 calories. It will be a mostly solo event with only nature and his thoughts for company.
He has done a number of Charity events such the first Full Ironman Distance (4km swim/ 180km Bike/ 42.5km run) in Cyprus. In addition he ran from Limassol to the highest point at Troodos (87km) using trails (2009/2011), for various charities, as well as an epic four mountain trail marathons in four days (2010) that went from Limassol to Troodos, Platres, Episkopi, and Limassol. These events have been covered both in local and national newspapers as well as in well-known magazines.
